We are a counselling service based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Our aims and objectives are to provide a counselling service accessible to all as far as can be reasonably achieved with the resources at our disposal:
What is OPEN MINDS?
OPEN MINDS Counselling Service Ltd. is a Not-For-Profit Social Enterprise limited by guarantee.
Our Registered Office is 39 Park Road, Askern, Doncaster, DN6 0BB and our Company Number is 06695828.
Our main premises are at Haywake House, 28 Christchurch Road, Doncaster, DN1 2QL
We began providing services in 2006, becoming full time from Haywake House in May 2008 and since then have become popular throughout Doncaster.
All of our income is invested towards keeping the counselling service going.
To protect all of our clients and beneficiaries we have special insurances and systems in place to monitor both the finances and our general activities.
Our client work is confidential unless someone is in danger
Referrals
We receive self-referrals from individuals who want counselling for themselves or sometimes for their children.
Most likely you will speak to Helen Mason who is our Managing Director and is a qualified counsellor. Craig Sobiecki is also a qualified counsellor and is available most days as the Volunteer Head Counsellor.
We only have administrative volunteer support one or two days a week so if our counsellors are busy please leave a message on the answer phone and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
We also receive referrals from organisations including the Community Mental Health Services, Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services, from Doncaster Royal Infirmary via their paediatrician, from Social Services, from Families First, from the IAPT, from the NSPCC and from other similar organisations but you are welcome to phone us directly and have chat to one of our counsellors.
What we offer
On site we provide-
COUNSELLING one to one using a variety of approaches including Person Centred Counselling, Integrative Counselling, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Therapy, Psychotherapy and NueroLinguistic Programming Amongst Others.
GROUP WORKSHOPS on personal develop subjects such as anger management, self-esteem building, stress and relaxation, coping mechanisms for everyday life, listening skills, communicating with children & young people, helping people with and understanding bereavement amongst others.
GROUP WORK for children of people with addiction, people interested in reducing self-harm, and other therapeutic work for children and young people
HYPNOTHERAPY provided by a qualified hypnotherapist, John Garner, which can help with stopping smoking, pain management and other issues
REMEDIAL MASSAGE, DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE AND HEAD & NECK MASSAGE again provided by John Garner who has over 20 years experience as a self-employed practitioner of NLP, hypnotherapy and massage
The basic cost for all one to one services ranges from FREE or prices start from £5 to £25 dependent upon your income
Workshops are priced dependent upon their length and if you want us to come to you.
A 90 minute training session for up to 12 people costs between £60 - £90
We can also come out to your organisation if you are willing to pay for our services
We can also help you to access other therapies such as acupuncture or specialist help such as substance misuse counselling provided by other organisations if you prefer.
Staff Team
We are always looking for more volunteers, both students training to be counsellors, qualified counsellors, listening mentors or befriending volunteers, and people wanting to help out with other activities such as our admin work.
